File transfer protocol client component licensed at no cost for both commercial and non-commercial use. Chilkat does not provide free support. For a fully supported (non-free) commercial FTP component, please refer to Chilkat FTP2. Chilkat provides 1-year phone and email support with all of its commercial components.

Important: The commercial FTP2 component will work in many situations where the free FTP component does not. This is because the freeware FTP component was implemented using Microsoft's WinInet (a layer above TCP/IP sockets) whereas FTP2 is a direct implementation of the FTP protocol at the socket level. WinInet is limited in functionality.

  • Free (but unsupported) for both commercial and non-commerical use.
  • Copy remote files to your local filesystem.
  • Copy files from your local filesystem to the FTP server.
  • Download text and binary files and access directly in memory.
  • Upload to FTP site directly from memory.
  • Create remote directory.
  • Rename remote files and directories.
  • Delete remote files and directories.
  • Get remote directory listing as XML.
  • Passive mode.
  • Written using C++ and WinInet. Because the internal implementation is based on WinInet, problems with certain FTP servers are impossible to resolve. No new features will be added to this component. For a fully-supported FTP component, Chilkat offers an "FTP2" commercial component that has a virtually identical API, is not based on WinInet, and is instead implemented at the TCP/IP socket (FTP protocol) level. This allows for potential future problems to be resolved.
